CIDA Calls for Community Comment on Revisions to Professional Standards 2020

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) invites the community to comment on proposed revisions to Professional Standards 2020 from September 30 through October 31, 2021. Finalized standards revisions are slated for adoption and publication in January 2022 with implementation on July 1, 2022 for accreditation reviews taking place in fall 2022 and beyond.

Proposed revisions primarily reflect refinements that respond to user feedback focused on Professional Standards 2020. Proposed revisions also strengthen expectations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and elevate critical issues revealed through ongoing forecasting activities. Overall, proposed revisions aim to streamline existing content, increase consistency of user interpretation, and incrementally elevate expectations for significant practice-related content.

CIDA’s Professional Standards are revised on a regular schedule to keep pace with rapidly evolving changes in society and practice as well as to improve consistent understanding and application in the field. Broad community participation in review and comment strengthens CIDA’s ability to be responsive to shifting expectations and priorities among those with a stake in the professional education of future interior design graduates,” states Executive Director Holly Mattson, Hon. FASID, Hon. IDC.
