The role of the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER) is to set standards for education and accredit academic programs that meet those standards. When an accrediting agency proposes significant changes to accreditation practices or standards, the communities of interest are engaged in review and comment to gauge the extent to which support exists for the proposed change.
The Council for Interior Design Accreditation requests your participation in reviewing and commenting on the proposal to offer candidacy as a pre-accreditation status to programs. Candidacy is a status of public recognition that the Council’s Accreditation Commission awards to a program, which signifies that the Commission has determined that the program is progressing towards Council accreditation and is likely to achieve compliance with Council Standards in the near future.
