Council for Interior Design Accreditation seeks task force participants
The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) is currently involved in a Standards Development Project that will result in the implementation of new standards in 2009. In conjunction with this project, CIDA’s Accreditation Commission will convene a task force in 2008 with the overall goal of developing accreditation framework (process, procedure, and support services) to support CIDA’s new standards.
The desired outcomes of the Accreditation Process Task Force are:
-
An accreditation process that supports standards being implemented in 2009
-
An accreditation process that takes into consideration recommendations made by the US Secretary of Education's Commission on the Future of Higher Education, which focus on accountability, greater transparency in the accreditation process, and promoting academic quality
-
An accreditation process that supports and encourages program innovation
-
A new format for accreditation documents, including program self-study reports and Visiting Team Reports
-
Meaningful mechanisms that can be used to monitor programs throughout the term of accreditation
Two representatives from accredited programs, one member of CIDA’s Evaluation Committee, and one site visitor will be selected to participate in this task force. Representatives from CIDA’s Board of Directors, Accreditation Commission, Standards Committee, and CIDA staff will also participate. The time commitment for the task force will most likely include two meetings in Grand Rapids, MI, conference calls, and individual work assignments.
Faculty members from accredited programs and CIDA site visitors interested in participating should submit a letter of interest highlighting qualifications and experience that will lead to effective participation on the task force to Megan Scanlan, accreditation manager, (megan@accredit-id.org) by December 20, 2007.
Megan may also be contacted with questions about the task force.
